Holiday Weak End

The Holiday Bowl in Wappingers Falls, New York – a testament to all things cheesy and anachronistic – has updated it’s inconsistently lit trademark sign with a generic replacement featuring thick RED letters and (worst of all) eight working lights! As someone who has lived in the area for over 30 years, it is sad to see the passing of the last bastion of resemblance to the community as I originally experienced it. The stretch of Route Nine between The Mid Hudson and Newburgh-Beacon Bridges has literally NOTHING in common with itself from 1982. Very wrong

Those monsters! Okay, it might not be on the same scale as when they tore down the Dutchess Mall, but still, that sign was an institution!

AAAHHHHH! That was one of my favorite parts about visiting Po-town! Seeing that cheesy, but much-loved sign gave me a feeling of comfort. Can anyone tell me if Jo-Ka-Jo’s is still around??
